Types of charter yachts
When considering types of charter yachts, there are family charter yachts, which make up most of the vessels on offer, and then there are yacht charters intended for party purposes. These include yachts like the 7X catamaran, a sea vessel with a width larger than yachts twice her size; perfect for enjoying vast amounts of living space with your family on a charter vacation in Croatia.
Consider also NOVELA yacht charter, whose strongest attribute is her crew, which are trained to provide a unique family experience, with plenty of additional fun activities for families. EVA 4.EVA is a long superyacht, with lots of water toys that are sure to be a big hit with the kids.
Some yachts are built having in mind speed and style. These vessels forego some of the luxuries that a family yacht charter implies and instead opt for a more streamlined approach to yachting and yacht charters. Sports yachts tend to fall into the same category as being more stylish, sleek, and faster than family-orientated yachts. These types of charter yachts include QUANTUM, a yacht specifically designed with speed in mind, achieving tops speeds of 33 knots.
There is also ONE BLUE, a truly stylish superyacht, designed by a top name in the industry. This yacht incorporates amenities orientated more towards adults, with a dining table that doubles as a poker table, an indoor veranda where guests can play chess, and a design with distinct elements of Art Deco. Finally, HEED`s profile is recognizable from afar, incorporating style and practicality in the innovative bow design, which reminds of an aircraft carrier nose.
Some types of charter yachts try to satisfy multiple roles at once. QUARANTA is a yacht model that won several awards for innovative interior design. Being a power catamaran, it had a lot of room to play around with the cabin arrangement; a modular design allows for more than 15 different cabin configurations, all in a couple of hours.
There are also types of charter yachts that do not fall into one specific category, or they make a category for themselves, based on their unique performance capabilities, like explorer yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans and trimarines, but we will not get into that now.
For now, we will base our comparison between the two main types of charter yachts models we have specified; those intended for hosting up to 12 people in a family environment and those that forego the maximum number of people on board, instead opting for a stylized approach to their deck arrangement. A family yacht charter is built for cruising, rather than speed.
The hull is wider, enabling more space for fun gatherings and social occasions instead of speeding on the waves at great speeds, disregarding the comfort of your guests as second to the experience of the wind in your hair and adventure ahead. There are 4 main features that distinguish family-orientated yachts from those that are built for a more stylized atmosphere and sport-orientated experience.
The size of the yacht
Bigger yachts are more family-oriented, while more compact superyachts are more geared towards a more tight-knit group of people. Here the biggest difference between sport and family yachts becomes obvious. Sports yachts tend to have a slimmer or sleeker profile, with a hull that enables speeding above the waves, while family yachts tend to be bulkier and loaded with more amenities oriented towards family entertainment.
The number of amenities and their kind
This is important – it is hard to imagine an intimate group of 4 friends will want an inflatable slide and inflatable trampolines, rather than be able to enjoy a romantic beach picnic, against a sunset and a bonfire. This is what separates family-oriented amenities on a yacht charter from those more geared towards creating an exciting and unique adult experience. This does not imply that grown-ups do not like to drive around on jet-skis, but less than enjoying a refreshing cocktail and canape hour on the sundeck.
The aesthetic of the exterior
The next major difference between a family-oriented yacht and a sport-designed one is the aesthetic of the exterior. Sleek and streamlined lines of QUANTUM are completely opposite to traditional approaches when designing profiles of superyachts, like on NOVELA, which has a wide hull and high deck, creating ample of space for family gatherings. There are also safety features to consider, particularly for children.
These include handrails and baby-proof doors on stairs, as well as baby-proofing corners and dangerous areas onboard. Also to consider are decks that support water toys, like a big upper deck for an inflatable slide, which is perfect for playing a family game of tag. On the other hand, a wheelhouse built by following an example of a jet-fighter will suit charter parties feeling the need for speed.
The design of the interior
The layout of the interior on a yacht says everything about her purpose. Cabins are the main example, where guests can expect specially decorated twin cabins, which are perfect for the kids or more compact and minimalistically-decorated cabins for adults.
The socialising areas in the interior, particularly the main deck salon or the upper deck sky lounge have a multitude of hidden amenities, like a pop-up TV, lots of table-top games or AV entertainment systems, like a Play Station. On the other hand, amenities orientated towards adults, like fully-equipped wet bars, massage therapies and comfortable sunbathing stations are sure to make every charter holiday in Croatia an exciting experience.
